If I could shop until I drop, I would. Shopping to me is exciting, stress-free fun that can bring a little joy to life. However, my bank account thinks otherwise and does not want me to shop until I drop. Thankfully, I have found ways to shop affordably to still get that spark in my life without getting into financial trouble. Today I will be sharing my top tips to save while you shop!
1. Shop Slow
If you are searching for something specific, such as a dress for an event, start your research early. The more time you give yourself to search, the better deals you can find. Items I’m watching often go on sale before I buy them. Shopping slow also allows you to read more reviews on the product and decide if it’s something you truly want. I shopped slow for the shoes pictured above which were originally $37. I waited a few weeks to purchase them and the company then put them on sale for 20% off AND during that time, I got a $5 off coupon. The final purchase was only $25 for a cute pair of shoes! You can also install a Chrome extension called Honey that will show you any relevant coupons for wherever you are shopping. When you are doing your research, make sure you look for coupons and utilize things like Honey. Although it takes longer, shopping slow and doing your research can save you money in the end.
2. Go to Outlet Malls
If you have an outlet mall near you, go there first! Even if it’s a bit further of a drive the deals are seriously worth it. The outlet mall doesn’t always carry the newest styles but you can find really great staples there. Not all stores at the outlet mall are “outlets” with discounts, so make sure you know which ones are. The jeans pictured above were from the Gap and I found them at the outlet mall for $15! They have become a staple in my wardrobe. When you can, shop at the outlet malls.
3. Check out the Clearance Section
If you do not already look through the clearance section at every store you go to, you need to start. You can find incredible deals on clearance and some places have huge clearance sections. They are not always picked over or out of style items. Target has an amazing clearance section! It is always full of items at a great price. The shirt pictured above was only $7 at Target, and I’ve gotten other shirts there for $4 and even $2! When you are shopping, always make a pit stop at the clearance section first.
I was raised to look for a good bargain. I’m always searching for ways to save because shopping (and deals) excite me! I hope these tips can help you learn more ways to save while you shop. If you have any other tips, comment them below and share them on social media!
