In light of the quarantine and #socialdistancing, I wanted to share some of our favorite at-home date night ideas. Jack helped me with the ideas but in reality, these are things him and I do all the time without even realizing it. The picture featured in this post is actually from a night in.
Single? Don’t you worry. All of these ideas can be used by you and your girlfriends for your next girls night in. I hope you enjoy these ideas and can put them to use this weekend!
1. Make a new recipe together
This may be one of our favorite things to do for an at-home date night. Even before the coronavirus and quarantine, Jack and I would do this all the time. It’s a great way to save money and it’s pretty fun. Turn up the jams and get cookin’!
Recently, we made an at-home hibachi meal and tried to replicate one of our favorite date night restaurants course. We’ve also made homemade burgers, homemade pizzas, and and numerous other meals. Trying new meals was very popular for us when I was on the Whole30. It was the best way to find something we both liked that was still #Whole30approved.
I love searching Pinterest for new recipe ideas. Follow @megmatable if you’re looking for some inspiration!
2. Have a movie night
When I say “Have a movie night” I don’t mean turn on the TV, find a movie, and watch it. I mean make it a special movie night. Buy popcorn, candy, special drinks, etc. and recreate your movie theater experience!
I also recommend picking a movie before the date night as if you were picking a movie to see in theater. I don’t know about you and your significant other, but we can spend lots of time just finding the right movie. That makes this date night feel a lot less special, in my opinion. Picking it in advance will give this at-home date night a more romantic vibe.
3. Play a board game
Don’t underestimate how fun a board game can be. Again, get some tunes blastin’ and get playin’! We have recently played scrabble, cribbage, and mancala for an at-home date night. Playing a board game gives you an opportunity to chat and have fun while doing something together.
If you’re looking for an interesting twist add some stakes to the game night! Jack and I are both pretty competitive so we love adding prizes for the winner. I lost our most recent competition and had to do 5 spot push ups over the next week. The stakes don’t have to be high, just something silly and fun to keep the game exciting!
4. How well do you know me quiz
Have you ever quizzed your significant other on how well they know you?? It is actually quite surprising how much you know about each other just from life experiences. You may not even realize the small things they know about you.
If they get an answer wrong, that just gives you the chance to talk about it and share the story! Jack and I recently did this one Saturday or Sunday morning and both really enjoyed it. We probably did this for a couple hours and enjoyed hearing what we knew about each other.
5. Sit and chat around a fire
Now that the weather is starting to warm up, I absolutely LOVE having a bonfire. Jack’s family has a chiminea that we love sitting around in the summer. Again, play music in the background (like always) and just chat and relax.
Having a fire is the perfect way to catch up, relax, and enjoy the outdoors. This is also a perfect double date idea. If there’s a couple you regularly hang out with have them over for a fire and some fun!
6. Anonymous wine / beer tasting
Last but certainly not least, make your own wine or beer tasting! Who says you have to go to a winery to do this?? Buy a few different beer or wines you’ve been wanting to try and make your own samples!
Click here to get 4 bottles of wine for $39 + free shipping (perfect for social distancing)! I recently ordered from Winc wines and I absolutely loved it.
I hope these ideas give you some inspiration for the upcoming weekend. Any of these ideas can be mixed & match or done with a variety of people. Don’t forget to be comfortably you in the process!
XOXO,
MegMat
