Yes, I realize we cannot currently travel due to COVID-19. However, we can still dream, plan, and look forward to the day we travel next! As a lot of you know, I travel a lot for work. Over the past 8 months, I have been on over 15 work trips and I have found a few travel essentials I cannot live without. It was hard to narrow down the list but I finally got it down to 5. Whether you’re traveling for work or pleasure, you’ll want to try some of these out for you next trip.
1. Handle wraps
At first, I bought these handle wraps because I thought they’d be a cute addition to my plain black suitcase. Little did I know how much I would fall in love. Many flights I take are smaller planes that seat around 50 people. There is no way my slightly-pushing-it size carry-on would fit in the overhead bin. Most of us typically check our bag at the gate and we pick it up on the jet bridge or baggage claim. These handles help me spot my suitcase in seconds!! Not only are they cute, they’re extremely helpful for bag identification.
2. Toiletry and jewelry bags
If you are a man or woman and do not own a small item bag, we need to talk. Toiletry and jewelry bags help keep your items SO much more organized. I also leave my items in there throughout the week (like a storage cabinet) to make packing up easier. Being organized helps prevent me from panicking that I’ll forget something!
I am loving the bags from Ellis James Design! Their products are durable, practical, and affordable. I currently have the jewelry organizer but will be upgrading my makeup organizer soon. I have searched high and low for a jewelry organizer and theirs definitely takes the cake.
3. Steamer
Steamers are a portable, efficient, and effective way to get rid of wrinkles in your clothes. I don’t know about you, but I’m usually pressed for time in the morning. I need to get the wrinkles out of my clothes and I need to do it fast. A steamer does just that and I can’t imagine my life without one.
4. Packing cubes
I asked for packing cubes for Christmas this year but was not totally sure they’d be a game changer. 4 months later and here I am informing all of you, they are. I usually organize all my work clothes in the larger cube, workout clothes in the medium cube, and underwear / socks in the small cube. Any oversized cardigan or blazer I leave loose in my suitcase. My packing is much more organized and compact since using these cubes.
5. Resistance bands
Last, but not least, I cannot travel without my resistance bands! When I started traveling, I did a lot of workouts from my hotel room. I wasn’t sure I was quite ready to get sweaty with my coworkers at 5 am (when I’m barely awake). I still do workouts in my hotel room but I’ve since ventured downstairs to the fitness center. Resistance bands are a game changer! They do not weigh down your bag and they can be added to a variety of workouts. Even if you don’t plan on doing a full blown workout during your vacation, these bands can be used for an 8-10 minute burn.
As you plan your post COVID-19 vacation, think about trying some new travel essentials I shared with you today. You may not need all of them in your life but I guarantee you’d be pleased with any of them. Always travel being comfortably you.
XOXO,
MegMat
